The Team

Dugu was the creation of Fiona and Andreas, husband and wife who combined their passions for education and design to create a small home from home for families in Vienna.

Fiona is originally from the UK, and spent ten years in Moscow, Russia before making her home in Vienna. With 20 years experience working with children, from each and every continent both as a Montessori kindergarten teacher, a private tutor, while running baby sign and children's music classes, and as a mother of four she grew to understand the value of finding your family's own path. She is passionate about supporting families and especially mother's along their mothering journey, and enjoys working with children and parents alike, helping them to find balance and inspiration as a family.

Andreas is a designer who believes that each of us is responsible for creating a better environment for ourselves and others. As a father to three girls and one boy he has learnt to understand the value of the environment in children's lives both at home and in the city and believes making exciting spaces for children to be should be a priority for us all. Where better to plant this seed than within the core of society - our families. Andreas has been an active part of the third district's cultural scene since his return from London in 2012.

Kathryn joined dugu in its early days as a crucial player at all dugu birthday parties. In 2020 she made dugu her second home and though from the UK, has been living in Vienna since 2000. Married to an Austrian she has 2 children, and understands the complexities of how bilingual families work and the importance of having a support system. She is an MCI trained Montessori teacher with a background in sensory integration and experience teaching EFL to both children and adults. She strongly believes that the Montessori philosophy and its core value of respect can make the world a better place for all.
